Most of the 1,308 townships in Ohio belong to the Ohio Township Association (OTA). This is an organization that exists to assist townships in planning, insurance coverage and other matters that are helpful to township administrators, as well as providing a voice to the Ohio legislature on behalf of the townships. They also sponsor a conference each year that provides educational classes on a variety of subjects for trustees and fiscal officers. Township trustees and Fiscal Officers are the primary members and there are 4,498 members at this time. Non-elected persons can become associate members simply by registering and paying $10 yearly dues. Currently there are 3,533 associate members.
