Wingfoot Lake Park was originally founded by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in the 1960's as a park for employee outings and corporate retreats. In the 1980's the attendance to the park soared to over 100,000 visitors, but declining employment locally caused the company to close the park in 2006. It was sold to the Ohio State Division of Parks and Recreation in 2009. After refurbishing, the park was opened as Wingfoot Lake State Park and publicly dedicated on 08-26-2010. The park is 690 acres, including the 444 acre lake.
