Schools

Most of Suffield is in the Field Local School district.   However, in the southwestern portion of the township, some children will attend the Springfield Local School District, and in the northwestern corner of the township, the children are part of the Mogadore School District.  Some along the southernmost border of Suffield are part of the Lake Local School District.

Waste Management & Recycling

Suffield adopted curbside recycling beginning in January 2017.  There are no longer recycle dumpsters as in the past.  Curbside recycling is collected every other week on Monday and Tuesdays.  For those living WEST of State Route 43, your recycle pick up day is Monday.  For thosoe who live EAST of State Route 43, your recycle pick up day is Tuesday.  The Portage County Recycle Center at 3588 Mogadore Road in Brimfield also accepts a wide variety of recyclables.  Questions on what can or cannot be recycled should be referred to the Portage County Solid Waste Management District at 330-678-8808.

Area Transportation

The PARTA bus system has door to door service.   Make arrangements for pickup at least three days in advance by calling 330-678-1287.

Post Office

The closest United States Post Offices to Suffield Township are:  in Mogadore at 3993 Mogadore Road (330-628-9642) and at 3984 Waterloo Road in Randolph (330-325-1736).

Library

One of the nicest small town library's around is the Akron-Summit County Public Library in Mogadore at 144 South Cleveland Avenue (330-628-9228).  And there is a "Little Free Library" located on the east side of the Fire House.

Electric & Gas Service

To report a power outage or to sign up or cancel electric service, call Ohio Edison/First Energy at 1-888-544-4877.  They are also on the internet at www.firstenergycorp.com.  For gas service call Dominion East Ohio Gas at 1-800-362-7557 or visit their website at www.dom.com

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has "Apples to Apples" rate comparisons for gas and electric available at www.energychoice.ohio.gov. 

And don't forget to check with NOPEC for aggregate pricing.  NOPEC does a lot for the local governments, including Suffield Township.  Review their options at nopec.org.

Senior Citizen Assistance

The Direction Home Akron-Canton Foundation seeks to assist seniors in things such as hot meal service.  Visit their website for more information:  www.dhad.org.    A national organization, Senior Assistance.org, helps to advise seniors or those taking care of senior citizens of care options.  Visit their website: https://www.seniorguidance.org.    And don't forget that our friends at PARTA are very willing to transport anyone with their Direct Response service Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM.  For seniors or disabled persons the cost is $4.00 each way.  Call PARTA three days in advance to arrange for your ride.  To get a discounted ride you must register in advance.  Call PARTA at 330-678-1287 for more information or to register.

Bridge Closure

Randolph Road Bridge, over Potter’s Creek, will be closed starting August 15, 2024, and will be closed for 60 days for Bridge Replacement. Traffic will not be permitted.
